Baptized & Sent
Did you know that October is “Extraordinary Mission Month”?
Plan to join us in October for a three-part series in celebration of this year’s Extraordinary Mission Month. Guest speakers and witnesses will share with us to reinvigorate our own commitment to bearing witness to Christ. Sr. Sara Butler, M.S.B.T., consultant to the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, will host the program.
October 3rd ~ The Power of Prayer:
Saint Therese of Lisieux, the Patroness of Missions
Why is a young cloistered Carmelite the patroness of missions? Guest speaker Marisa Guerin, Ph.D., will tell the story of the Little Flower’s own conversion and her way of supporting the missions. She will explain why mission begins with an encounter with the Lord Jesus and a commitment to discipleship. Prayer is the indispensable foundation of all our missionary efforts.
Additional Events held on
October 10th ~ Why be Catholic?
Witness stories from Converts and a “Revert”
Why do adults ask for Baptism? A convert from Judaism, a man raised as a Christian but never baptized, and a young Catholic who returned to the practice of the faith after dropping out (a “revert”) will all share their stories. How did the Holy Spirit lead them to faith in Christ and to the Catholic Church? What can we learn from their experiences?
October 17th ~ Who is Sent?
Stories from Missionary Disciples
How can we lead people to Christ and to the Church? We will hear from a Medical Mission Sister who has worked in the Middle East and Africa; a Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity (Sister) who runs Evangelization retreats for Hispanic women in Philadelphia; and a young adult who reaches her peers through personal witness to the value and virtue of chastity. What can we learn from them?
