Four of our sisters recently opened a new cenacle in the Diocese of Camden, New Jersey. As you may know, our sisters call their homes and missions “cenacles” rather than “convents” after the Cenacle Upper Room. For over three years Sr. Mary Matthew Labunski, MSBT has been volunteering with Catholic Charities in Salem County, NJ and commuting from our Motherhouse in Northeast Philadelphia. Conversations between representatives of the Diocese of Camden and the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity soon confirmed that there were fruitful possibilities for our sisters to establish a new cenacle there, allowing them to live and minister in that area.
Our sisters have now moved into the former rectory at St. Francis DeSales Church in Barrington, NJ, establishing the Holy Spirit Missionary Cenacle. While setting up the new residence, Sr. Mary Matthew continues her work with Catholic Charities in Salem County. Sr. Christine Ma, MSBT is working with Vitality Health Care Services of Salem County. Sr. Josefina Mendez, MSBT is exploring possibilities for Hispanic Ministry in the diocese while she continues the same ministry in South Philly, and Sr. Joan Lorraine Kreutz, MSBT is working at Rosebud Academy, a Preschool located at St. Rose of Lima parish.
We wish every good blessing upon the sisters as the seek to be “a power for good” within their new community!
