On January 9, 2018 Agustina Agapito Contreras was received into the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity Novitiate. The Rite of Initiation was celebrated at our Motherhouse in Philadelphia, PA. Her religious name is Sr. Agustina of the Mercy of the Lord; in Spanish it is Hermana Agustina de la Misericordia del Señor.
As a Candidate, Agus has been living with our sisters in the San José Missionary Cenacle in Mexico City. The Novitiate will be a time of deepening her vocational call and commitment. As a novice, Sr. Agustina’s studies will focus on the MSBT charism, history and mission in preparation to her making the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as a Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity. During the celebration Sr. Agus received the MSBT Rule of Life and Constitution, as well as a crucifix which formerly belonged to Sr. Teresita Gonzalez, MSBT.
Becoming a… religious is not primarily our own decision…Rather it is the response to a call and a call of love.
~ Pope Francis, Address to Seminarians and Novices, July 6, 2013
Our Vocation Team members each had a special part in the celebration. Before prayer began, Sr. Olivia Montejano, MSBT gave a brief biography of Agus in order to introduce her to the community. Sr. Barbara McIntyre, MSBT led prayer and Sr. Mary Kay, McDonald, MSBT who will also serve as Novice Director, was the lector. General Custodian, Sr. Joan Marie Keller, MSBT conducted the Rite of Initiation.
