Sr. Mary Eleanor Mulholland of the Holy Cross  08/30/01 – 07/02/10

A t age 29, Eleanor Mulholland had a desire to serve as a missionary. Acting on that desire she entered the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity. Trained as a secretary she used those skills and her own keen intelligence as she served her Lord and the Catholic Church. Early in her life as an MSBT she did secretarial work for our founder Fr. Thomas Judge, After a time of working at Holy Name of Jesus Hospital in Gadsden, AL she started serving in Catholic Social Services first in Philadelphia, PA then in Birmingham, AL, Mobile, AL, Fords, NJ and Long Beach, MS. She also served her Religious Congregation as Treasurer and as Historian.

Sr. Mary Eleanor was a quiet person yet she had a good sense of self and could speak up for her beliefs and values. She was a dedicated worker, accurate and careful in her work. She was described as being of sterling character with a good sense of humor. At 105 when in the Community were asked to take the Protecting God’s Children course, she made a point of getting the materials to read as her hearing would not allow her to hear the video.

She has been longing to go to heaven and wondered what her longevity was about. She has at last reached her desired home with the Blessed Trinity.

Do realize what your (daily) labors and vigilance mean?

What is the effect of fidelity to your duty and the sacrifices you must develop? What is the effect of being faithful to your ministrations from morning until night in season and out of season, through the year? The effect has been that you are busy exalting the Cross of Jesus Christ and doing this as successfully as St. Helena.  Fr. Thomas A. Judge, CM
