Practice of Charity
Here’s a reflection one of our sisters wrote on the practice of the
VIRTUE OF CHARITY
What caught my eye when we were asked to share about charity, were the words short and practical. With countless examples of charity lived in a practical way from my parents, I came to our Community and have attempted to deepen my sense of charity - and the virtue of charity.
But how do I live this in a practical way???? Some of the ways that I try to live the virtue of charity are:
* praying for it
* meditating on it.
* helping where/when I see that help is needed.
* listening to what a person is saying, despite who may be saying it.
* smiling and saying hello to people as I pass them
* volunteering for community committees where I think I may have something to offer.
* observing others doing something charitable and, where practical, commending them for it.
* telling my truth, in charity.
Do I always do these things? No! It is what I try to do to in
order to deepen my virtue of charity “in the providence of my
everyday life.”
