JANUARY 2012

Annual Women's Retreat - What Do You Thirst For?     WAITING LIST ONLY
January 20-22
Registration 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)
We will spend time during this retreat reflecting on what you need spiritually and psychologically.
Each woman present will be guided to enter into herself to discover what she thirsts for.
Jesus said to the Samaritan woman:"whoever drinks of the water I will give will never thirst; the water I shall give will become a spring of water welling up to eternal life."  Luke 4:13-14. Of course, Jesus is talking about the living water of grace. What do you thirst for? How do you usually pray?  Jeanne and Kathleen will work as a team using guided meditations, scripture, dialogue, film and stories to facilitate your reflection.  You may be surprised at what the Spirit reveals about your inner thirst.

Presenters: Jeanne Jones, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and spiritual director in St. Paul, Mn. For over 35 years she has specialized in working with women. Jeanne has given retreats here at Blessed Trinity Shrine Retreat with Matt Linn, SJ and she has given women's retreats in Minnesota and Wisconsin.

BIBLE INSTITUTE:  PAUL FOR THE 21ST CENTURY

 May 25-27

Registration: 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

In this Bible Institute, we look at the New Testament:  Paul for the 21st Century.  From the 1st century, Paul the Apostle still speaks to us in the 21st century with as much passion for “Jesus Crucified and Risen”! Paul gets a new look as we consider his letters, his relationship to the Judaism of his day and his message for today.  How did he influence the formation of the New Testament?  Was he the ‘true’ founder of Christianity?   What are ‘the works of the Law’?   Come and see.

JULY 2012

WALKING WITH JESUS IN THE GOSPELS:  COMMUNION OF LIFE AND MISSION OF LOVE

July 17-22

Beginning Tuesday with Supper at 6:00 p.m. (Eastern Time) Concluding on Sunday with Brunch

The Gospels make it clear that Jesus chose people to walk the hills of Galilee with him, to share his prayerful confidence in God and to learn and subsequently witness to his teaching about the nearness of the Kingdom of God.  This style of life of the earliest disciples eventually became a model for each Christian as well as the development of various forms of religious life for men and women through the centuries.  As diverse as our vocations in life might be, the essence of relationship with Christ remains the same, namely “to walk with Jesus” in a communion of life and then to be sent by the Spirit on a mission of love in the modern world in the diversity of our gifts and location.  This retreat will invite us to continue our “walk with Jesus” with renewed enthusiasm as well as openness to new depth of relationship in our mission.

Presenter:  Fr.  Paul Zilonka, C.P. is a native of Baltimore, Maryland, and a member of the Congregation of the Passion (or Passionist Community).  Fr. Zilonka’s biblical-pastoral ministry has included twenty-five years of seminary teaching, Bible study in parishes and many biblical retreats in the USA and abroad.  He holds Roman post-graduate degrees from the Pontifical Biblical Institute (SSL) and the Gregorian University.  He has taught in Boston, New York, Jamaica and at St. Mary’s Seminary and University at Roland Park in Baltimore.  He is on the Provincial Council of his Community.

AUGUST- SEPTEMBER

BECOMING FREE TO CHOOSE:  DISCERNMENT OF THE NEXT STEP

One-day Workshop   Friday, August 31

10:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

Life is full of decisions that can lead either to losing life or to new life.  How do you know whether you are listening to God or to your own fears and limitations?  This workshop will explore the steps for discerning:  becoming open to new dreams, hearing the real God in our consolation and desolation, healing our fears and limitations, risking new actions and evaluating our lived experience.  Although everyone will profit who wishes to dream new dreams and become free to live them out, the workshop will especially benefit those who are facing decisions.  There will be exercises to apply Ignatian discernment so that it becomes a practical tool for future discernment.

Fee: One-day workshop $50 (includes a $15 non-refundable deposit)

Presenter:   Fr.  Matthew Linn, S.J.  See below.

 HEALING OUR FUTURE

August 31-September 2

Registration 7:00 p.m. (Eastern Time)

When looking at the future what keeps me from really being happy?  Perhaps it is anxiety over health, an ongoing difficult relationship or the loss of one’s dream.  Maybe it is a bigger problem of surviving in a world with increasing violence, global warming and financial insecurity that makes retirement a nightmare.  Whatever we fear in the future robs us of peace and health now.  Those who look forward to the future actually live 7.6 years longer and become happy and healthy rather than sad and sick!  This retreat based on the Linns’ new book, Healing the Future, will offer processes of healing to create a future giving new life rather than the future that is now taking our life and the life of our grandchildren.

Presenter: Fr. Matthew Linn, S.J.

Fr. Matt Linn is an internationally known author and retreat director. He has been involved in retreat and healing ministry for years, nationally and internationally, and has been with us annually for many years.

 Fee: $160 (includes a $40 non-refundable deposit)
