Mission Series

October 2019 is  Extraordinary Missionary Month and has been established to foster greater awareness of missio ad gentes and to animate the missionary transformation of Church life and pastoral activity.

“The mission mandate touches all of us personally,” Pope Francis said in his World Mission Sunday message. “I am a mission, always; you are a mission always; every baptized man and woman is a mission. People in love never stand still: they are drawn out of themselves; they are attracted and attract others in turn; they give themselves to others and build relationships that are life-giving. As far as God’s love is concerned, no one is useless or insignificant. Each of us is a mission to the world, for each of us is the fruit of God’s love.”

We are excited to host a three part series here at the Mother Boniface Spirituality Center with guest speakers and witnesses who will encourage us to reinvigorate our own commitment to bearing witness to Christ.  Sr. Sara Butler, M.S.B.T., consultant to the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelization, will host the programs. Please join us on October 10th or October 17th!

October 10th ~ Why be Catholic?

Witness stories from Converts and a “Revert”

Why do adults ask for Baptism?  A convert from Judaism, a man raised as a Christian but never baptized, and a young Catholic who returned to the practice of the faith after dropping out (a “revert”) will all share their stories. How did the Holy Spirit lead them to faith in Christ and to the Catholic Church? What can we learn from their experiences?

October 17th ~ Who is Sent?

Stories from Missionary Disciples

How can we lead people to Christ and to the Church?  We will hear from a Medical Mission Sister who has worked in the Middle East and Africa; a Missionary Servant of the Most Blessed Trinity (Sister) who runs Evangelization retreats for Hispanic women in Philadelphia; and a young adult who reaches her peers through personal witness to the value and virtue of chastity. What can we learn from them?
