The Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity celebrated the Rite of Entrance into Novitiate during Vespers on Sunday, September 8, 2019 on the Feast Day of the Nativity of our Lady. Sr. Veronica Castro Nolasco of Jesus Crucified received the MSBT Rule of Life & Constitution and the Cross as well as her name and mystery, Jesus Crucified.
Sr. Veronica is originally from Tlalmanalco, a town in the State of Mexico, Mexico. She was working as a parish secretary when she read a flyer about the MSBT. What caught Sr. Veronica’s attention was the fact that the MSBT religious life was an active, apostolic life. As she got to know and work side by side with our sisters she was moved by the way the sisters gave themselves in service to the people to whom they ministered.
As a Candidate, Sr. Veró lived with our sisters in the San José Missionary Cenacle in Mexico City. With the guidance of her Candidate Director, Sr. Virginia Wagner, MSBT, she deepened her prayer life and grew in the knowledge of faith and spiritual life as she discerned her particular call to the Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity. She also grew in her understanding and experience of the ministry of our sisters as she worked in parish ministry at San Marcos in Xochimilco, serving the local community within an economically depressed area that had suffered lasting effects of the 2017 earthquake in Mexico.
Sr. Veró has recently moved from Mexico to the Formation Cenacle at our Motherhouse located in Philadelphia, PA. As a Novice, Sr. Veró will deepen her relationship with Blessed Trinity, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. The focus of her studies will be the MSBT charism, history and mission in preparation to her making the vows of poverty, chastity and obedience as a Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity.
In preparation for this intensified period of her journey, Sr. Veronica recently completed an eight-day silent retreat. She described this retreat as a, “beautiful encounter with God and with yourself.” She also said that silence is a way to discover what is drawing you to God. She said that the Spirituality of the Missionary Cenacle is what speaks to her most deeply at this time.
It is a custom that each sister choose a mystery to focus on and live out. Sr. Veronica has chosen Jesus Crucified because it was Jesus who drew her to religious life. She is most excited to know God in an ever deeper way and be able to share that and serve wherever she is sent.
Please keep Sr. Veronica in your prayers as she walks with God on her vocation journey.
