Lenten Message from Sr. Barbara McIntyre, MSBT

Friends, Supporters, and Loved Ones,

As we are near the end of Lent and the joyous season of Easter soon approaching, we find ourselves in interesting times. The world is experiencing a global pandemic, COVID-19. The Missionary Servants of the Most Blessed Trinity want to assure you that we are praying not only for you and your intentions as always, but also for a cure, an end to this quarantine, and a speedy recovery for all afflicted.

Through the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of the days and nights Jesus spent in the desert fasting and praying. This year Lent is spent away from attending Mass, our workplaces, social gatherings, family and friends. This separation forces us to reconnect on an even deeper level than usual with Jesus in the desert. Let us not forget the first Easter was celebrated not in a church or with an egg hunt or a family party: it was outside a tomb with most of the disciples under a grief stricken quarantine of their own. The church has always lived in our hearts and this year we need to let it grow a little larger because the buildings remain closed.

The sisters at the Motherhouse and at our many missions are doing their best to maintain some normalcy in their daily lives. Many of us are following stay-at-home orders which keep us from our normal ministry, which is a real hardship for us.  Life does go on. Please do your part on behalf of yourself and others to be safe. The sisters are praying for each of you.  We ask that you continue to pray for us.

May the Triune God smile upon you during these trying times.

We hope you are well!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Happy Easter!
